On Friday, April 22 the Bantry Bay Lions Club held a bucket collection in Bantry town to raise funds to help the Ukrainian disaster relief effort. A total of €1159.65 was donated, a very generous amount given the hard times people are experiencing with price rises occurring on everything.
100% of the money collected will be forwarded to the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) organization for distribution to where it can be most effective in providing medical and humanitarian assistance in Ukraine. Ireland has been very proactive in providing a haven for Ukrainian refugees and the people of Bantry and the local area have always been very generous in supporting disaster relief programmes. The results of this collection have greatly reflected that.
The Lions wish to thank everyone for their continued support. Also, thanks to SuperValu and Lidl for offering their premises to set up collection stations and Nora Lynch for organising the event.
