The Bantry Bay Lions are delighted to announce the launch of our Christmas Food Appeal for 2020.
The result was a magnificent €2409.54 from Supervalu & Lidl which we have converted into 60 Food Vouchers for SVP to distribute.
Usually, we would be in SuperValu and Lidl in the weekend running up to Christmas collecting groceries and cash donations. This year the Food Appeal will run for a full week from Monday December 7 to Saturday December 12.
As with everyone else this year we have had to make changes to how we do things. There will be no manned collecting at either store. Instead, at SuperValu there will be 7 collecting buckets at the checkout tills for cash donations and shelving placed for food donations. At Lidl, there will be 4 collecting buckets at the checkout tills for cash donations. No food donations are possible at Lidl.
Cash donations in the buckets will be collected at the end of each day by a member of the Lions. If you so wish, you can also donate directly to the Food Appeal online by clicking on the donate button to the right.
At the end of the Food Appeal, the money donated and the money from the food collected will be converted into €40 vouchers provided by SuperValu and stamped “Food Only”. These vouchers will be given to Saint Vincent De Paul for distribution to families in need.
Due to Covid 19 health concerns there will be no distribution of food hampers this year. Every donation will make a difference and in this year like no other we would like to reach out to all those in need and brighten their Christmas in some small way.
The Bantry Bay Lions want to thank you for your usual great support and wish you all a Happy Christmas.
