The Bantry Bay Lions joined with Lions International in celebrating the centenary year of the Lions International organization.   The Lions gathered at Kealkil Parkland on Saturday, March 4 to plant an oak tree. The oak tree is very special to Ireland. The tree planting ceremony was attended by members of the Bantry Bay Lions Club and the Kealkil Parkland Committee (see photograph).

Club President Eileen O’Shea thanked the Kealkil Committee for attending and for their warm welcome and hospitality, and also complimented the group on their trojan work.  It was fitting to plant the tree during National Tree week. Eileen and all Bantry Bay Lions hope that this beautiful tree will see many people sitting in the shade some day and remember that someone planted the tree to commemorate the good work of Lions locally and throughout the world.
