The Bantry Bay Lions welcomed a new member to the club in September.
Dr Francis Greaves, Secretary Bantry Bay Lions Club, hosted a talk on the Fastnet sailing disaster of 1979 on August 30 in the Schull Harbour Hotel.
The Bantry Bay Lions offer a programme called “Little Steps” which is a suicide peer support drop-in group.
It will be starting again on Monday, September 2 in “The New You” on Marina Street from 6-7.30 pm.
There will also be a drop in coffee morning for the same group in the Bantry Bay Hotel on September 26 from 11am to 1.30pm.
The Bantry Bay Lions Club presented another batch of “Cuddly Lions” to
the Ambulance Services group in Bantry on August 21. These Cuddly Lions
will be given to children who are transported to hospital in an ambulance to
help ease their stress.
Francis Greaves, Secretary of the Club, has been given a Gold Centennial Award by Lions Clubs International for growing Membership during his presidential year, which happened to coincide with the Lions Centenary.

This is a Charity Cycle Ride and raises a good bit of money for many charities. This year it took place on the 13th July.
Bantry Bay Lions support this by running the BBQ at the Fire Station in Bantry, and helping the Food Station at the Coast Guard Centre in Goleen.
Somewhere in the region of 500 people enjoy this event.

Family Fun Day
30th June 2019 from 1300 to 1700
with CoAction and Bantry Bay Lions
at the CoAction Grounds, Slip, Bantry.
This was a great success, netting €1297.22 which was split between Lions and CoAction, the latter receiving €1300.
The Peace Poster Competition Final was held in February and was won by Yi-Chih Lin 13 years old from New Taipei City Yung Ho Lions Club.
Our own District winner, Rebekah Chionnaith 12 years old from Naas Lions Club won a Merit Award.

The Lions attended the annual Parade in Bantry with an improved Lion thanks to Peter Marran and his many little helpers. The new steel framework is lighter, and more stable, and easier to collapse and store.
The message "We are looking for New Members" was clear for all to see. Thanks to all who attended and Gerry Desmond for the photos.
