Here is another update from the project we are supporting in Zambia, in particular an Email from Martha a young lady in need of help.
Dear Sir/Madam
I write to you to show how humbled I am for your good deed.
I want to thank you for the help you have given me for this has helped me a lot .
I highly appreciate because you have helped me reduce my credit at school. I pray that the almighty God continue blessing you.
Once again thank you very much .
Yours faithfully,
Mazyopa Martha.
Here is more information from Sister Sandra:
Martha Mazyopa was born on 28 December 2001 in Bulangililo compound,Kitwe. She is the 5th born in a family of 7 girls and 2 boys. Her mother passed on in 2014.Her father is a carpenter. One of her elder sisters trained as a primary school teacher but has not yet been deployed by the government. She is married with 3 kids.Martha is the second child to do tertiary education in her family.
Martha did her secondary education at Hellen Kaunda girls school. She was taught by Sr Angela Sianga, a Holy cross sister from grade eight to nine.It was at this time that Sr Angela identified Martha as one one of the vulnerable children. The school put Sr Angela as the contact person between the school and a local organisation( Afya Mzuri) that supported vulnerable children at Hellen Kaunda. Martha received this support through her secondary education.
She later applied to Evelyn Hone College in 2020 for a 3 years Diploma course in physiotherapy with the hope of getting a bursary in the second term. She has not gotten that bursary to date.At the moment she owes the college K32,000(1,684.21 Euros). Her father borrowed some money from the local community fund called SILK to pay for her first term in the college. She was to complete her course in December, 2022 but due to COVID 19 the college had to close twice, extending her duration at the college to June 2023.
For her living and upkeep, she sells socks and underwear to her fellow students and her father can only manage a bit of money for her groceries and transport. Her father is struggling to look after martha`s six siblings who still live with their father and his 97 years old mother.
So far she has managed to pay for her first and second year examinations fees but has no hope of graduating at the end of her training as she will not be given her results until she clears all her outstanding debts.
I strongly recommend this young lady for any financial assistance for school fees.My hope is that if she completes her training and finds a job, she and her elder sister can support their young brother and sisters who are in the same situation.
Thank you and may God bless you.
Sr Sandra Simandi.
